Lost In the Woods

It has been a fair while since our last post but we have been very busy with the shadow theatre having developed a new show. Lost in the Woods features a new set of shadow puppets and a scarf marionette made by Orla, glove puppetry and storytelling. Matt plays live music on the tenor guitar, lyre and flute and there is lots of joining in. We developed the show for 3 - 7 year olds and so far the show has been well received in pre-school, primary and special school settings. We will be taking the show to Blackpool for World Book Day in March as well as doing a performance in our local school and visiting various schools in Sheffield in the spring.

Happy New Year!

2009 was a very busy year for us with the creation of our new show Tales to Sustain. The performance and workshops have been very well received so far and we look forward to some exciting times during 2010. We had to take a break while moving house during December, January and February, but we will be very much up and running again in March.

Tales to Sustain 2009/2010 Tour Offer

We are now excitedly putting together our schools tour for 2009/2010. From our base in the Derbyshire Peak District we will be aiming to reach schools in South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Cheshire and Nottinghamshire.

To help us plan the year, we are offering a 10% discount to schools that book before the end of September.

Shadow Puppetry Workshops...

Telling the story of Shadow Theatre

Following our latest performance at High Green Primary in Sheffield, Orla was asked to return and lead a shadow puppetry day for Y3. Orla revisted the school on the 9th July with our three large workshop screens and various lights and had a great time working with all of the children and staff. Many thanks to the children for a wonderful day.

Storytelling to a packed house

Wonder and magic were fully present on the 17th June as we performed twice at the Library Theatre in Sheffield for the 2009 Sheffield Children's Festival. The performances were attended by children from several schools in Sheffield as well the Hathersage parent and child group who brought our daughter with them (so she could finally see the show!). Everybody had a great time in such an ideal venue with an almost perfect blackout. See the attached photos and comments... roll on the Big Green Gathering!

On the road

Our new show, Tales to sustain, is now officially on tour. We completed our first performance and workshop on Thursday (4th June) and it was very well received.

"It was a very professional puppet theatre which the children really enjoyed. Some of the younger children especially enjoyed the magic of the performance".

We now have a busy schedule lined up for June and July, including two public performances on the 17th June at Sheffield Library Theatre.
